Randomness

My hubby is painting our kitchen. I can't wait until all of our big house projects are finished. I love all the painting we have done so far, so I am super excited to finish the last room and be done for a while. Rob is also going to be super glad to be done, as he is tired of painting. I feel horrible because I can't help (you know, being with child and all).
We have made some good friends here, which is so nice. It has been a long while since I felt like I had a real friend in the town we lived in, so I am very grateful to finally feel like we have friends again.
Lily has a new favorite friend too. Her name is Layla, she is a few months older and looks a lot like Lily. They enjoy each other a lot. They hug each other and play together super cute. It is cute to watch her have a friend and play so well with another kid.
Here they are playing on my bed. They love playing on my bed when they are together.

Lily refuses to sleep in any bed. She climbed out of her crib, so had to take the crib down. Put up a toddler bed and she hated it. Put a mattress on her floor right near the door, won't sleep on it. So, she sleeps on the floor with her blanky and doggie every night. I wish I knew how to help her, but she is sleeping for now. I just feel bad. I wish I knew how to teach her to stay on the mattress.

We both have callings in our ward now. I am the YW Advisor and Rob is the assistant Scout Master. It is nice to be able to serve. I am somewhat sad to have Rob have that calling as it requires a lot of time, and a lot of campouts...which leaves me home alone with my goober and my pregnant self. But, I am sure it will be okay.
I just don't like being alone when I am pregnant.

One day while I took a shower, Rob got Lily dressed. When I came out wearing a gray shirt and black pants, I realized Rob had put Lily in a gray shirt and black shorts. People gave me some funny looks at Walmart that day, thinking I purposely tried to match with my 1 year old.

Being a mom

Being a mom means...

I can make the bed with Lily on it
I can unload the dishwasher with Lily in my arms
I can still think Lily is the cutest thing ever even when she has been a total monster
I can still comfort Lily even when I feel like crap
I will sleep in a ball on the floor for Lily's benefit if necessary
I can hear Lily even when Rob doesn't
working 24/7
I am more exhausted than I ever was when I was working full-time or going to school full-time and working
feeling like I what I am doing doesn't always matter
going a whole day with no other conversation besides "juice?" "jew" "thank you?" tan u" "please" "pleee"
I have the best job in the world....and also the hardest

Our newest addition

Here is the newest addition to our little family. It is blue, pretty, and makes me extremely happy. We have only had one car our whole marriage. While in AZ Rob had a scooter to get to school but we sold it when we left Peoria. Since we have moved to Carlsbad he commutes to a town 40 miles north 3 days a week and with other complications I have usually only had the car two mornings a week as of late. Hence, the need for another car for me to drive and to save my sanity. I love it!
We got it in Roswell so it has an awesome UFO emblem on the front license plate holder thing. Pretty awesome.

Here is Lily today when Rob came home for lunch. She loves it when he comes home for lunch. She stays in his arms the whole time he is home. She does love her daddy.

So, the truth of the matter is the car isn't the only new addition to our family. We also are expecting a new peanut! I am 12 weeks along. We are very excited and feeling very blessed. We decided to cram every major life event we could into six months----moving multiple times, buying a house, Rob graduating, Rob starting a new job, buying a new car, and having a new baby. Good times.
I was thrilled to see peanut swooshing around and being very active. I also asked if there was only one...the doctor laughed and said most people don't ask that, but yes there is only one. Phew....we were going to have to go back to the dealership and trade that car for a minivan if there were 2!
Rob took this picture today and was laughing hysterically the whole time. He took a ton of pictures zoomed in just in just on the belly. He thinks he is hilarious. The second baby pops quicker that is for sure.

Now, if you need something else to put a smile on your face (it made me cry...but I am pregnant, so.....) here is a video of Stephanie Nelson that is currently on LDS.org. It will make you laugh, smile, cry, and seriously re-evaluate your priorities.

After watching it I am resolving to be grateful for all the moments of motherhood and joy I have...even in changing diapers, cleaning, etc. Life is good. Life is what we make it. And, life can be blessed in the midst of tragedy, heartache, and hard times.
